Job Requirements

We have an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate or a student in progress of a Mechanical Engineering degree at Armstrong Manufacturing & Engineering. You will be given the opportunity to apply your academic training and skills in a real-world setting on a number of different projects. You will assist the project manager, project engineer, quality control, and the rest of the staff in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of engineering technology by performing any combination of the duties described below.

We are looking for applicants who are self-motivated and creative engineers interested in mechanical engineering, product design, machine tooling, and working in a machine shop environment. This position offers exposure to a variety of engineering experiences and tasks.

What you will be doing:
  • Provide design assistance to the project engineer when needed using computer aided design.
  • Review project drawings and coordinate any design changes.
  • Provide document control assistance for correspondence, submittals, design releases etc.
  • Building and testing assemblies which require the use of small hand tools, power tools, microscopes, and other measuring equipment.
  • Inspect all levels of assemblies to ensure quality and maintain production flow.
  • Test and troubleshoot assemblies and/or final systems.
  • Attentiveness to details with a strong desire for precision and accuracy when executing job duties.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from management and engineering staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure company specifications are being followed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Proficient with 2D/3D CAD such as Autodesk Inventor or similar.
  • Detailed understanding and application of technical documentation and engineering processes/practices.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Good hand/eye coordination
  • Able to learn multiple areas (will cross train)
Education and Experience:
  • Knowledge/experience in reading, analyzing and understanding prints/schematics, drawings, bill of materials, and procedures.
  • Knowledge/experience using inspection and measurement tools in part dimensions.
  • Basic familiarity with assembly tools and ability to read unit of measurements.
  • In process of or recent graduate in Mechanical Engineering or relatable degree
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
  • Office and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to maintain a clean and organized work area.
Schedule:
  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday through Friday
